How I Started With Self-Realization Fellowship
In 1970, my little brother spent the summer with cousins in Malibu, California.
He heard of something called enlightenment and found a list of organizations
that offered meditation. He saw that the oldest and most established organization
was Self-Realization Fellowship. But he was most attracted to SRF by Autobiography
of a Yogi and Paramahansa
Yogananda's picture on the cover.
He was 14 at the time, and I was not immediately interested. Over the next
three years I observed noble qualities blossom in my brother, Daniel. I
saw him meditating in the backyard. I heard him practicing exercises (energization)
in our room. And slowly I became aware of a better way to live.
He passed away in 1980 and I've always been grateful for his incarnation.
